If your operating system is Windows XP, do as follows:

- Visit the location below:C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
- Find extend.dat file and right-click it, and then select Rename.
- Input extend.dat.old and click Enter.
- Reboot Outlook.
If your operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 2007, do as follows:
- Open Start and select Computer.
- Browse to the location below:C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
- Right-click extend.dat and select Rename.
- Input extend.dat.old and click Enter.
- Reboot Outlook.
Note: From the above, C: is supposed to be the Windows drive. That is to say, Windows should be installed on this drive. Therefore, in case you install Windows on the D: drive, substitute the letter C for D. Besides, %username% is a variable that refers to the user account. You may receive the error message with it.
If the error still exists after you reboot Outlook, attempt to open the msncon32.dll add-in by hand. If the add-in has been open, then try to fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling the Outlook connector program.
If the error still exists, open the help menu in Outlook or Control Panel and enable a repair on your Microsoft Office Installation. To restore Microsoft Office in Windows XP, do as follows:
- Open Start and select Control Panel.
- Double-click the icon of Add or Remove Programs.
- From the list that opens, choose Microsoft Office and then press Change.
